My path to becoming a teacher began with being raised by two teachers. I attended Marhall University in Huntington, West Virginia majoring in secondary education with a focus on social studies. I graduated in 1998 and worked for six months as a substitute teacher. In the fall of 1999 I began working at Ripley High School thourgh the Americorp program. Through this program I was given the opportunity to work with students who were on the verge of dropping out of school.
I was hired to teach United States History at JH Rose High School in July of 2000. During my time at Rose I taught a variety of classes. I taught Geography, World History, and a class I developed called the History of Sports. I also help coach the football team where we have won four straight state championships. I am going into my eighth year of teaching at Rose High and have assumed a non official role as mentor to a number of colleagues. I enjoy teaching immensly and would not change a thing (other than the pay
